Why, when a dog is being walked, would he pull you down the street, over to something interesting, lag behind you, lean, push against you, or try to stop the walk completely.
The dog has become over excited about being on the walk, has dismissed you in an attempt to play in an unrestrained manner and is trying to get to something that he sees is very interesting.
The dog believes that he is the Alpha-leader, is choosing not to follow your directions and is trying to determine the pace and the direction of the walk himself.
The dog has become afraid, has dismissed you in his attempt to protect himself, and is trying to avoid the object of his fear.
The dog is an aggressive dog that has dismissed you in his attempt to hunt or drive away people or animals he sees on the walk.
